Welcome to the Frederick Monthly Meeting web site. If you are new to Friends, we hope the information provided here will give you a better understanding of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers).

There has been a Quaker presence in Frederick County, Maryland, off-and-on, for more than a century and a half. The current Friends Meeting began informally in the late 1970s when several Friends who had moved to the county decided to gather for worship. Those early meetings were held in homes. Eventually, we outgrew our homespun origins and began to rent meeting space in the city of Frederick.

In the early 1990s, we decided to purchase a large house in the city to be made into our Meetinghouse. We are now a thriving community of all ages. Frederick Monthly Meeting is part of the Warrington Quarterly Meeting and the Baltimore Yearly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends.
